This image became one of the most important dance photographs in history, and it happened by accident. The ballerina, from American Ballet Theatre, was tying her pointe shoes to get ready for our shoot. When I saw the beautiful way her golden tutu was lit, I picked up my camera and seized the moment. The shot made the cover of Dance Magazine, and became iconic.
